I've got a baby in me
31 Weeks
144 pounds this week. I’m loving needing the extra calories during girl scout cookie season. I hope they got their peanut butter from a reputable source. I’ve created a couple of registries at buybuybaby.com and babiesrus.com, but I really don’t feel like I even scraped the surface of what I’ll need. Other than the furniture, I literally only have 3 shirts, 5 diapers and a pack of pacifiers for the baby right now while some moms I’ve talked to have had their nursery fully stocked since week 20. I’m going baby shopping with my mom today, though, so hopefully a seasoned grandma will be able to help me navigate the baby aisles more efficiently.

I’m 143 this morning and 3/4 of the way to a baby. We’re starting to get the baby stuff in order, we’ve made a couple of registries and the nursery is slowly coming together. We installed 3 Ikea floating lack shelves in the nursery above where the dresser/changing table will go. Though when I mentioned this to one of my friends, she was shocked that I would gamble with hanging a floating shelf above where I plan to put a baby, something that never even crossed my mind. Perhaps I have too much faith in Daryn’s installation abilities? It’s not like I’m planning on displaying an encyclopedia on them. I’ll have our contractor take a look at them and ensure they’re secure. We also found a nice rocking cradle for the living room with the hope that we can avoid having anything plastic and primary colored on the lower half of the house. We’ll see how long we can keep this hope alive.

143 pounds, I’m starting to get pretty uncomfortable but I’m hoping it’s just the growth spurt that the baby seems to be going through. My belly feels way too big for my skin, my legs are swollen and my back constantly aches. Of course it doesn’t help that Kekrops chooses the most inconvenient spot to sleep so I have to squeeze in around him and I wake up with a kink in my neck.

I’m gaining weight pretty steadily now, I’m at 140 this morning. Kekrops has been doing a great job of preparing us for sleepless nights lately, I’m not certain what has gotten into him, but he sleeps all day long from about 8:30 when we leave for work in the morning until whatever time Daryn gets home from work, which has been around 11 this week. And then he stays up all night long, begging for our attention. He’s really showing me how great of a father Daryn is going to make: he stands at Daryn’s side of the bed and rests his chin about 3 inches from Daryn’s nose and whimpers softly. Daryn is capable of completely ignoring him and sleeping soundly through it until I finally get out of bed and give him whatever attention he’s begging for.

I’m 137 this morning and have about 3 more months to go. I’m going to start making more of an effort to actually eat healthy. I’ve never been a huge sugar eater, but lately it’s all I find myself eating. I finished off an entire bag of valentines sweethearts over three nights. There were supposed to be 14 servings in that bag. And that was after having a donut for a midmorning snack and two cupcakes instead of lunch each day. And all the m&m’s that I snack on in between. That’s honestly how bad it is, I’m not exaggerating. This week I’m going to try to get at least one item from each food group in before I reach for that sugary treat.
